Flow Gauging
Streamflow monitoring is critical to understanding catchment runoff response. From spot gauging to continuous monitoring of in-channel flows to current industry standards, Smith Hydro is mobile and operates across New Zealand, in addition to international services as required.
Water Quality Sampling
Smith Hydro is experienced at conducting manual water quality sampling on streams, lakes, springs and bores to current industry standards, and can install continuous water quality samplers if required, across New Zealand and internationally.
Weather Stations

Bathymetry Surveys
Detailed underwater topography can be captured with the Smith Hydro Ugly Duckling MII, our own remote controlled unmanned survey boat, with onboard RTK GPS and echosounder technology, capturing accurate positional and depth information wherever it is required.
Aerial Surveys
Capturing detailed topopographic information through aerial photogrammetry, Smith Hydro operates in full compliance with the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand. Combined with bathymetry survey information we can provide a full in-channel and out-of-bank topographic solution.
